Why
dehumidification?
- Corrosion
Iron and steel will not rust if the air in contact with
the surface has a humidity below 50% relative humidity
(RH)
- Condensation
Moisture will not condensate on a surface if the air
in contact with it has a dew-point lower than the surface
temperature
- Ice formation
Ice will not form on a surface if the air in contact
with it has a dew-point lower than the surface temperature
- Handling of hygroscope materials
The quality of dry drugs, dry food, hard candy and other
hygroscope materials can only be maintained through
production to the consumer if it is kept in contact
with air at a low relative humidity
-
Drying
buildings
When drying moisture from a building, whether it is
a new building or a building with water damages, the
most effective way is to use sorption dehumidifying
- Mould
Mould and fungus formation is prevented if the surrounding
air is kept below 70%RH. This is important in many situations,
for example in storage of wooden products
- Product drying and cooling
When drying and cooling products a low relative humidity
is essential for a fast process. If the products to
be dried are sensitive to high temperature, the low
relative humidity can only be obtained with dehumidification
-
Bacteria
Bacteria need humidity to survive and multiply. Often
the humidity required for bacteria to multiply is found
on hygroscope materials
- Odours
Unpleasant odours, will drastically be reduced if the
relative humidity is kept below 50%RH. For example in
sewage stations the odours can be controlled by installing
a dehumidifier.
Applications:
- Pharmaceuticals

Dry air is most important during the production as well
as during the storage of pharmaceutical products.
- Food and confectionery
- Dry air storage
Dry air storage is used for a variety of materials,
such as corn, coffee, powders, sugars and electronic
equipment. As the name indicates, dry air is essential
for maintained quality. Using air is far more economical
than heating and ventilating large storage areas.
- Dehumidification of indoor ice-rinks
- Dehumidification of storage tents
- Power stations
Machinery installed in power plants
require protection against moisture. Evaporation
occurs from water surface and pipes containing water resulting
in high humidity conditions within the normally well insulated
buildings. Condensation will occur whenever the warm air
comes into contact with the surfaces of pumps and pipes
containing cold water.

- Waste water purification plants/pump stations
- Defence
Military storage
Since the 1970's, desiccant equipment has been used by
the military all over the world for preservation by dehumidification.
Inactive ships, tanks, aircraft, weapons and supplies
are kept in dry air storage, provided by dehumidifiers.
The technology enables an increased combat readiness and
decreases the preservation costs drastically.
Example
of dehumidifiers fromSeibu Giken DST AB:
CF-152 of the Flexisorb series Industrial
sized dehumidifier. This unit was delivered to Saudi Arabia.
Products:
All DST dehumidifiers contain the SSCR-rotor
from Seibu Giken, a guarantee for high quality.
Small dehumidifiers
DR/DC-series
Stainless steel units. These dehumidifiers are used for
purposes such as dehumidification in military warehouses,
hydropower plants and for permanent installations in areas
with relatively low moisture levels.
DR-40/50
DR -40 and DR-50 are easy to maintain. The components
are easy to disassemble.
DR-40 and DR-50 are suitable for several applications,
for example cold and dry air storages and cargo protection.
The DR-40 can be delivered with a 10A or 16A fuse.
Medium-sized
dehumidifiers
The R-060BR and R-061R are stainless steel units used
in fields such as process industry, warehouses, plastic
halls or in the event of serious water damage.
The
R-series
For larger applications. Double skin insulation
and built-in fans. It has been widely used in for example
pharmaceutical applications and confectionery production.
The
RZ-range
The RZ-range consists of three compact units
made of galvanized steel with fans on the outside. Ideal
for the process industry, for example.
Flexisorb
-dehumidifiers for industrial applications
Flexisorb mean flexibility. The Flexisorb range has been
developed by DST to satisfy the varying requirements of
the industry. Flexisorb units are modular in their design,
and have tremendous potential to be adapted according
to the specific requirements of each application. Contact
your nearest agent for more information.
Flexisorb uses the Recusorb, Consorb, Econosorb or Flexisorb
dehumidification principle.
Aquasorb
A-30B
Aquasorb is a sorption dehumidifier that condenses
out the moisture. The chassis is made of stainless steel,
which is especially important in condensing units. The
rotor is, as always, washable, all energy is accumulated
in the dry air. Aquasorb operates at dew-points
below 0°C.
Rotor
Cassettes
Rotor cassettes are used when a standard dehumidifier
is not suitable or does not satisfy the customers' needs,
e.g. air treatment units.
The rotor cassettes contains:
- Seibu Giken's unique SSCR rotor
- Rotor motor with transmission
- Sector seals
